Here is a simple and refreshing drink to make that will instantly give you a natural boost of energy. No caffeine, completely fresh ingredients.
500 ml water
2 tbsp fresh ginger, grated (or 2 tsp of dried, ground ginger)
1/4 cup raw honey
Juice from 1 large / 2 small limes
Bring the water to a boil, add ginger, and simmer (covered) for 10 minutes.
Pour through strainer into a mug(s) and either:
let sit until it comes to almost room temperature; or
add in equal parts cold water to bring the overall temperature down to just about room temperature.
Add in honey and lime/lemon juice.
Enjoy!
It is definitely better and more potent to use fresh ginger. That said, if unavailable, dried ground ginger will work fine.
Only use honey that is raw/unpasteurized, and preferably local (support your local businesses who are doing good things!).
Do not add honey to boiling water. The water should be very close to room temperature. You should never heat honey.
Do not add lime or lemon juice until the water cools. The juice will retain more beneficial properties if it is not boiled.
