Running should feel light, effortless, efficiency, and quick. This video gives you a drill and some explanation on how (and why) to change your approach, so that you can dramatically improve your running without getting injured, regardless of if you’re jogging or sprinting.
When they run, most people feel heavy-footed and complain of back, knee, and foot aches and pains. This is an indication that the way they are running is not economic.
To increase your running economy, the most important thing to realize is the dominant force is gravity, not your muscle effort.
As a coach, telling someone to “push” off of the ground, “drive the knee high”, and “reach forward” to improve stride length is fruitless.
Instead, use gravity to your advantage by just falling and changing your position - you’ll notice a significant difference in the way you run.
